Bristol YES (Youth Education Service) offers Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths to external candidates.

Somerset Edit

Bath - Monkton Combe School. The exams officer is Simon Robinson. This school was previously very supportive of home educators and you may find it on lists for taking independent exam candidates. Taunton International School - Any board, any subject, eg CIE, Edexcel. Very helpful.

The Park School, Yeovil - very helpful. Enquired 08/01/2020 for summer 2020 exams and was told "Sadly we do not take external candidates so will not be able to help you at this time."

Devon Edit

Exeter - The Maynard School. Very organised but want details by Sept prior to summer sittings and payment by December. AQA, OCR or Edexcel, no practicals. Have decided to not offer A Level Sciences due to vague responses from examination boards with regards to practical endorsements.

Magdalen Court School 07/09/18 We are very happy to provide facilities for external candidates to sit examinations with CIE, AQA, OCR Edexcel. The cost is £130 per entry (which includes the board fee, Centre fee, invigilation, administration). Offer A Level Science exams (AQA) and will liaise with 3A Tutors for the practical endorsement. Queen Elizabeth Academy Crediton. A state run Academy. Known to allow external candidates for GCSEs as long as there is no coursework. They also allow IGCSE candidates, Edexcel but not CAIE. Exam Officer Julie Gray

St John's, Sidmouth. Known to allow IGCSE external candidates for CIE and Edexcel. June 2018: Enquire and ask for a detailed breakdown of costs. Fees vary but are on the high side for Devon.

Ilfracombe Academy, was Ilfracombe Arts College - Edexcel and CIE IGCSEs, charges are exam board fees plus one off £30 admin charge plus £10 an hour invigilation fee where the school has no candidate. Contact Barry Waghorn, - limited to 25 external candidates per sitting

West Buckland School, South Molton AQA, OCR, Edexcel, WJEC charge per paper plus admin fee plus invigilation fees (even if own students sitting an exam) at £9/hour for all exam hours plus 1 hour so a £45 charge for an exam that has two 2 hour papers.Exam officer Duncan Aitchison

The Spires College, Torquay. NOT ACCEPTING CANDIDATES FOR 2020 Admin fee £75 (one fee, valid for the year) plus exam costs. AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC They accept external candidates for January exams as well as May/June. July 2019 - The Spires wrote: "Unfortunately, we are no longer taking external students I’m afraid."

Kings School, Ottery St Mary. Has indicated they will allow external candidates for GCSEs with coursework. £150 per subject IGCSE, £120 per subject GCSE. AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC. There is a downloadable form on the school website under "Parents" then "Exams".

The Colours Academy near Ivybridge have opportunities for home educated students to sit Edexcel GCSE exams with them from May/June 2018. They also offer Art & Design GCSE if you study with them part-time and many subjects are available to external candidates. £200 per subject for external candidates. Tiverton High School in Tiverton accept external candidates though their fees are high (£100/subject plus exam board fees, invigilation at £9 per hour including 2 hours extra per paper and room hire at £35/session). Their fees document outlines this, exam officer contact is

Pool Academy Contact Tina Rowe Registered centre for AQA, Edexcel/Pearson, OCR Cambridge and WJEC. Private candidates are accepted to sit written papers only and they are not able to offer subjects with practical elements or non-exam assessments. There is no minimum age requirement to sit. Tina Rowe is really helpful.

Wimborne , East Dorset - Queen Elizabeth School Accept external candidates for some exams.

Weymouth College offers all major exam boards, exam-only subjects, will do on-screen tests. Admin fee of £100 plus exam fees. No access arrangements

Gloucestershire Edit

Wycliffe College have had lots of home-educated external candidates for IGCSEs. Also do Americal SAT testing.

The King's School, Gloucester - independent school accepting external candidates.

Cirencester Deer Park School - have been very helpful to external candidates in 2016. Edexcel and AQA.

Gloucester Brockworth Enterprise School The exam officer is Phil Vaughan. They do at least ICT IGCSE (including practical). Mill Lane Gloucester GL3 4QF. 01452 863 372 .
